About the Energy Program

The Mount Ascutney Regional Commission (MARC) adopted a  Regional Energy Plan in 2018 in accordance with  24 V.S.A. §4352. A Certificate of Energy Compliance was issued by the Vermont Public Service Department for this plan, which gives this document “substantial deference” under Section 248 proceedings. MARC reviews proposals for renewable energy facilities as an automatic party to Section 248 proceedings in Southern Windsor County. MARC is also working to implement the pathways identified in the Regional Energy Plan.

MARC staff is committed to helping municipalities develop energy related goals, policies, and actions, and to supporting municipalities with plan implementation. This may include development of municipal enhanced energy plans, solar screening ordinances, or any other type of energy related project.
