Environmental Site Assessments​

Below are the steps that commonly occur in a Brownfields Reuse Project assessment prior to clean-up planning or remediation. Prior to any environmental assessment work that is to be funded by the EPA, MARC will assist the interested applicants in obtaining a Brownfields EPA Eligibility Determination for Assessment. A site Access Agreement between the property owner and the consultant will also be required.

Phase I Environmental Site Assessments

* Background information gathering and historical records review
* Visual site inspections
* Other Requirements, according to ASTM standards

Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

* Subsurface Soil Sampling
* Groundwater Sampling
* Ecological sasessment (if necessary)
* Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) required by EPA

Supplemental Phase II Environmental Assessments

* Subsurface soil sampling and groundwater sampling to determine the extent of contamination found in the initial Phase II ESA
