Environmental Site Assessments
Below are the steps that commonly occur in a Brownfields Reuse Project assessment prior to clean-up planning or remediation. Prior to any environmental assessment work that is to be funded by the EPA, MARC will assist the interested applicant in obtaining a Brownfields EPA Eligibility Determination for Assessment. A Site Access Agreement between the property owner and the consultant will also be required.
Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
- Background information gathering and historical records review
- Visual site inspections
- Other requirements according to ASTM standards
Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Subsurface Soil Sampling
- Groundwater Sampling
- Ecological Assessment (if necessary)
- Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) required by EPA
Supplemental Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Subsurface soil sampling and groundwater sampling to determine the extent of contamination found in the initial Phase II ESA
